Our Heritage

Origins & Military Roots
Born of garrison life on Salisbury Plain, the shoot has long offered soldiers stationed here an opportunity to enjoy sport, develop fieldcraft and practise safe marksmanship within the rhythms of the countryside. Closely associated with the Tidworth, Bulford and Larkhill Garrisons, BTGS has been part of local military and rural life for generations.

Tradition Through Change
Across decades - and through periods of conflict and peace - the shoot has endured thanks to committed volunteers, veterans, serving personnel and local supporters who value countryside sportsmanship and the Plain’s unique landscape.
